A group of women with surrendered hearts and open minds came together on Tuesday, September 18th to learn more about ministering to the abortion vulnerable. Sydna Masse, CEO of Ramah International, traveled from Arkansas to conduct a one day workshop with WCC and other pregnancy care centers within travel distance. “Effective Ministry to The Abortion Vulnerable” workshop will strengthen WCC’s ability to reach and minister in the community. The participants learned to recognize and use past abortion experiences to guide healing and positive choices in the future. Sydna has been helping post abortive women and men for over 25 years. She still speaks to countless individuals through her website www.herchoicetoheal.com who are considering abortion or who have experienced an abortion in their past. She uses these encounters and her extensive research to help pregnancy care centers through education and resources.

She started the day by reminding us of the extensive list of common issues of post-abortive people. Guilt, anxiety, feeling “numb”, depression, fear of infertility, unable to bond with present and future children, and alcohol and drug use are just a few of the issues she expanded upon. Sydna uses her personal abortion experience to guide discussion and give context to her teaching. Sydna instructs with such compassion for the victims of abortion and such love for God’s Word that guides her ministry. She reminded us all of God’s overarching sovereignty in the ultimate decisions made by our patients. She delivered biblical and practical information to help the participants increase their confidence in meeting with women while stressing the dependency on God’s Holy Spirit.

We ended the day with a memorial service for all the babies lost to abortion. In working with women at our pregnancy centers, the staff and volunteers interact with many who have chosen abortion. They have seen the ultrasounds of babies who’s lives are no more. The burden of those losses must be given to The Lord our God. The memory service is a physical way of recognizing these precious lives and give healing to those working in our centers. We pray more women will reach out for healing and peace that only Christ can provide for them in this world.
