She came to us from further away than normal. Almost like she would love to be able to run away from her life, and being in a new town might change things. She is stuck in a situation she wants out of at all costs. Unlike some of the women who come see us, she did not choose with her actions to be in this unplanned pregnancy situation. She is left to work through all the messy details of someone else’s unwanted actions. She believes termination is the only answer. She is visually distraught and cries as she recounts the events that have led her to visit us. She wants to know about the procedures and wants to talk to someone who has experienced an abortion.
Only God would know how many different people she would interact with at Women’s Care Center the weeks she would visit. Only He could orchestrate a visit with several different people who would share truth from a medical background, from a personal experience, from the Gospel, and finally and clearly on an ultrasound machine. He spoke directly to her heart as she laid on that ultrasound table. She was taken back by the clarity of the image of the beating heart. She was tearful as she contemplated what she was seeing. She spoke through her tears, ” It would be easy to go through with it if I hadn’t seen but how can I now? How can I when this baby had nothing to do with what happened to me?” Her tenderness was evident from the first visit to the last.
God’s Holy Spirit was preparing her weeks before she would visit us. As the nurse was sharing the Gospel with her she stated she had been saved earlier in her life but she was not raised in a church. She was excited about a new church she was attending. She might not ever understand the timing of God’s work in her life but we are praising Him for it today!
